Planning, Logistics, and Itinerary for First Half of 2024 Travel
There is so much to be done.
It's January 28th, 2024 at 3:21 and I'm actively planning for our trips. Abby and I are both serious planners and so putting together the schedule for the next two month's preparations comes naturally, but it has to be written out to keep it all straight. Then we have to review it together and agree on the best courses of action. Then keep tracking it all on a Googlesheet.
Today I am scheduling speakers for Espiritu (Theology on Tap for 21+) 1 year in advance so that the ministry does not die when we are gone. This is a ministry we started 2 years ago for young and middle aged adults that has morphed to being available to anyone 21 and up.
I have 9 out of 12 speakers scheduled for the year. This year's speakers will consist of largely peers who have attended the event in the past and we are very excited for their testimonies and talks.
Some things to do this month and next: complete sale of house, pack up items of house in boxes, sell big pieces of furniture, take the car and the cat to our parents in Idaho, save, save, save $$$, register vehicle as non-operating, practice living out of a backpack, buy more plane, train, and ferry tickets, start fundraising for our mission, set up fundraising sites, learn 10 travel phrases for each country we visit. Abby has agreed to learn 4 and I'll learn 4. I've started learning Japanese and Vietnamese.
So far the draft itinerary for our April 2 to July 1 trip is as follows:
Japan: Tokyo: April 3-7. Kyoto: April 7-10. Osaka: April 10-12.
Vietnam: Hanoi: April 24-26. Ha Long Bay: April 26-28.
Nihn Bahn: April 28. Hoi An: April 28-May 2. Ho Chi Minh: May 2- 4.
Turkey: Istanbul: May 5-9. Capadocia: May 9-13. Izmir: May 13-15.
Greece: Athens: May 16-19. TBD: May 19-26.
Spain: Barcelona: May 27-30. Madrid: May 30.
Worldwide Organized Organic Farming Homestay May 31-June 7. TBD June 8-9.
Morocco: June 9-17
Italy: Rome: June 17-21. TBD: June 21-28. Milan: June 28-July 1
Fly to Atlanta: July 1. Drive to Savannah/Tybee Island July 2-TBD
Fly to Boise: TBD
Fly to California for mission training: mid-jul
